Carlisle’s former IBF super-featherweight champion Charles Shepherd has announced his retirement from boxing.
Shepherd was after a fight with Naseem Hamed but things never happened after much talk.
Shepherd defeated Tom ‘Boom Boom’ Johnson to win the IBF super-featherweight title in July 1999 but lost the belt on his first defence.
Shepherd won 21 of his 35 fights and will now concentrate on unearthing new boxing talent running a new gym at William Howard in Brampton.
Amir Khan is expected to name his new trainer in the near future as he looks ahead to his upcoming fight with Michael Gomez.
Khan will have Dean Powell in his corner for the Gomez fight following his split from Oliver Harrison.
The Nazworld site is having a full makeover and will become British Boxing Heroes. This will enable us to add much more information on other British boxers both past and present to the site.
All the existing Prince Naseem Hamed information will still be available now and in the future as the overall look and feel of the site is enhanced to coincide with being around for 10 years!
